The Futhark Runes
Mystery surrounds the Rune Alphabet which originated among
the Nordic people of Europe. Runes were mainly used for
inscriptions, charms and talismans, and they were strongly connected
with magic and fortune telling. The word 'Rune' appears in Old Norse
as 'run' (secret writting), in Gothic as 'runa' (secret, whisper),
in Old English as 'roun' and in German 'raunen'.
All these words share the meaning 'whispered secrets'.
Its easy to make your own set of Runes. I have made them from small
flat pebbles I have found on beaches. You can also make them from wood
and mark the symbols on them with a small wood burning tool. And what
about the small glass pebbles that you put in bowls for decoration.
All these are ideal and you can varnish over the symbols to protect them.
You always get more pleasure and meaning from things that you put
your own energies into in creating.

The Fulfilment Rune. Feoh feeds and nourishes, both on the material and
spiritual planes. Be careful not to over enjoy your good fortune; conserve
and share with others.

The Rune of Passage. Ur represents death of the old and birth of the new.
The end of a chapter in your live, and the beginning of a new one. You may
experience a dark time within yourself, a loss of something or someone, but
this enables self~change which will help you find new opportunities.

passing through the gateway. You are ready to meet with the Divine force
both within yourself and without. You will gain strength through waiting.

Rad indicates a journey but it may not be as straightforward as one would
expect. To make the journey happen you may have to take a step backwards

The flame of the pine torch expresses the idea of regeneration through
transformation. There will be purity, freedom, renewed light and clarity
where there has been darkness or confusion in your life.
